    We live on a ranch, and our dogs are always working hard. So 1 or 2 syllables is best! one of my favorite dog names ever is Louie.

    1. Ben Team Avatar

      Louie is a great name, WYGirl.
      But, uh, you’d always have to say it twice, right?
      😉

    I reckon a basic rule regarding dogs names is they should be no more than 2 syllables, because calling a dogs name with more than two syllables in a park becomes somewhat awkward and can even sound pretentious. So something like “Peanut butter” is too long to call, plus it’s unlikely the dog recognises the second word anyway.

    Our dogs have unrelated names, (Willow and Skye – not named by me) but two pairs of names I have considered are;

    Neon and Argon

    And for cricket fans, Snicko and Hot Spot

    My wife reckons I have a chance with the first pair but the second pair will be over her dead body.

    1. Meg Marrs Avatar

      The two or fewer syllables seems like a good call!
