I had a brindle great dant/ greyhound. Found her in a shelter at 4 months old. She could run like a cheetah great to watch her chase bunnies , she would pass them. This breed has no hip, joint or any problems mine never did she was 15 yrs old when she passed peacefully here at home

      Thanks for sharing, Lisa!

We’re glad your pooch never experienced joint problems, but we did want to point out for anyone reading that while you’re correct, greyhounds rarely develop hip dysplasia, Great Danes do often suffer from the ailment.

At any rate, we appreciate you telling us about your pupper!

I have a great dane pitbull and Australian shepherd mix he is very protective and wide open I try to socialize him but he doesn’t like other dogs except my other dog which is a pure breed husky I use her as his emotional support dog she helps him calm down a little in public he tries to copy wut she does he is 8 months husky is 9 yrs old does anybody have any advice on training him he is smart he sits gives paw does high 5 lays down and speaks while in house but out side he wont listen he is always in attack mode and I cant break him even with fly swatter with in house he is scared of terrified of actually in house but dont care outside would like to take him hiking and swimming at a river or lake but cant he barks growls around people and other animals

      Hey, Carrel.
Your use of the phrase “attack mode” is pretty concerning, especially given the size of your pooch.
Anytime you’re faced with aggression issues, you will really need to work with a canine behaviorist — and the sooner the better.

I’m not sure if I completely understand the “fly swatter” comments, but just to be clear: Don’t hit your dog with a fly swatter — that’ll only exacerbate any fear or frustration he’s feeling and damage the trust between the two of you.
      Best of luck!
